AS A MEMBER OF SINAI HEALTH SYSTEM, MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES IT SERVES BY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL, SURGICAL, PEDIATRIC, PSYCHIATRIC, AND INTENSIVE CARE SERVICES. THE VISION IS TO BE A NATIONAL MODEL FOR THE DELIVERY OF URBAN HEALTHCARE.

PATIENT CAREMOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER (MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL OR MSH) IS A 319-LICENSED BED ACUTE CARE AND TEACHING HOSPITAL AFFILIATED WITH THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF METROPOLITAN CHICAGO. MSH IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SINAI HEALTH SYSTEM'S CORE MISSION TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES IT SERVES. FOUNDED IN 1919, MSH PROVIDES A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE TOTAL MEDICAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO WEST SIDE RESIDENTS. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE A FULL SPECTRUM OF CARE, INCLUDING MEDICAL, SURGICAL, PEDIATRIC, LEVEL III PERINATAL, INTENSIVE CARE, EMERGENCY, MATERNAL CHILD, AND PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES. SINAI HOME HEALTH THROUGH ITS TRAINED NURSES KEEPS IN CONTACT WITH SENIORS THROUGH PERIODIC HOME VISITS. SUCH VISITS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO A GENERAL CHECKUP ON THEIR HEALTH, ENSURE THE PATIENTS ARE TAKING THE PRESCRIBED MEDICATION AND TO DISCUSS THEIR HEALTH CONCERNS. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN WELL RECEIVED IN THE COMMUNITY. SINAI IS ALSO DEVELOPING A DEDICATED GERIATRIC SERVICE LINE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE SUPERIOR CONTINUITY OF CARE.FOR ONCOLOGY PATIENTS, THE SINAI HEALTH SYSTEM CANCER CARE CENTER WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2008. WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE COLEMAN FOUNDATION, AN INTEGRATED ONCOLOGY CENTER WAS CREATED THAT LINKS PHYSICIANS' OFFICES, A CHEMOTHERAPY CENTER AND AN INPATIENT UNIT ALL IN ONE AREA.
TEACHING & RESEARCHMOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL PROVIDES UNDERGRADUATE TRAINING FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS IN SIX MAJOR SPECIALTIES - MEDICINE, SURGERY, OBSTETRICS/GYNECOLOGY, PEDIATRICS, PSYCHIATRY AND PHYSICAL MEDICINE AS WELL AS A NUMBER OF SUB-SPECIALTIES. THE HOUSE STAFF PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING FOR RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS IN MAJOR CLINICAL AREAS.
