DURING THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC YEAR, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA (JASWIN) SERVED A TOTAL OF 19,025 STUDENTS IN 830 CLASSES RESULTING IN MORE THAN 89,077 HOURS SPENT BETWEEN VOLUNTEERS AND THE STUDENTS THEY INSPIRE. THIS MEANS THAT THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED JA EXPERIENCES TO 16% OF K-12 STUDENTS IN OUR 15-COUNTY SERVICE AREA. A 2020 LPSOS SURVEY REVEALED THAT 80% OF JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT ALUMNI ACROSS THE COUNTRY SAID JA PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THEIR PURSUIT OF FURTHER EDUCATION. OVER HALF OF JA ALUMNI ARE LIKELY TO START OR OWN A BUSINESS DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR CAREER. AND 82% OF ALUMNI SAID THEY HAVE INCREASED UNDERSTANDING OF FINANCIAL CONCEPTS. WITH PROVEN CURRICULA DELIVERED BY VOLUNTEER MENTORS, JASWIN IS PROVIDING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THE REAL WORLD SKILLS THEY WANT AND NEED, LIKE HOW TO MANAGE MONEY, HOW TO PREPARE FOR A CAREER. AND HOW TO OPEN AND RUN A BUSINESS. IN THE PROCESS, STUDENTS ARE CONNECTING CLASSROOM LEARNING TO THE REAL WORLD. THIS ALLOWS THEM TO RECOGNIZE THE VALUE OF STAYING IN SCHOOL, INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD THEY WILL GRADUATE. BECAUSE OF THE REGARD FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE DEMONSTRATED BY SO MANY IN THE COMMUNITY, STUDENTS ARE RECEIVING LIFE-CHANGING FINANCIAL LITERACY, WORK READINESS, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION. JA PROGRAMS CONTRIBUTE TO THE VITALITY OF OUR COMMUNITY AND THE AVAILABILITY OF A WELL-EDUCATED WORKFORCE.
