THE MISSION OF PARTNERS IN OPPORTUNITY (PIO) IS TO PUT THE CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAM ON THE PATH TO COLLEGE BY CONNECTING THEIR FAMILIES WITH HOUSING IN HIGH OPPORTUNITY COMMUNITIES AND BY PROVIDING PERSONALIZED, HIGH-TOUCH SUPPORT FOR THEM AND THEIR CAREGIVERS.

THE PARTNERS IN OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM CONNECTS LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN TO HOUSING IN HIGH OPPORTUNITY COMMUNITIES WITH HIGH PERFORMING PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND PROVIDES A TWO YEAR SPRINGBOARD OF WRAPAROUND SUPPORT TO HELP FAMILIES NAVIGATE THE TRANSITION, BUILD COMMUNITY, ESTABLISH STABILITY, AND ENSURE THAT THEIR CHILDREN ARE EQUIPPED TO SUCCEED ACADEMICALLY. WE DELIVER THESE SERVICES THROUGH FOUR CORE PROGRAMS. THROUGH OUR TUTORING PROGRAM WE PROVIDE THE CHILDREN IN OUR PROGRAM WITH INTENSIVE, ONE-ON-ONE AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING IN MATH AND LITERACY. THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAM WE HELP TO ORIENT FAMILIES TO THEIR NEW NEIGHBORHOOD AND ASSIST THEM IN BUILDING A SUPPORT SYSTEM IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THROUGH OUR OPPORTUNITY COACH PROGRAM WE ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO ASSESS VARIOUS DOMAINS OF THEIR LIFE AND IDENTIFY THREATS TO STABILITY AND PRIORITY AREAS FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. FINALLY, THROUGH OUR MENTOR PROGRAM WE PAIR PARENTS WITH A MENTOR WHO CAN PROVIDE GUIDANCE, MODEL STABILITY, AND SERVE AS AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER.
