THE MISSION OF COLUMBUS RUNNING CLUB IS TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN COLUMBUS AND BARTHOLOMEW CO, INDIANA BY PROVIDING PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES WHICH ENCOURAGES PARTICIPATION IN RUNNING AND WALKING ACTIVITIES.

MILL RACE MARATHON - THIS EVENT SUPPORTS COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS. THIS EVENT RETURNED TO IN PERSON IN 2021, HOWEVER, ATTENDANCE WAS STILL LIMITED AS COVID MEASURES WERE STILL IN FORCE. REVENUE WAS BELOW EXPECTED AND AGAIN RESERVE FUNDS WERE USED TO SUPPLEMENT THE DONATIONS TO THE SUPPORTED CHARITIES.


YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES RUNS SEPTEMBER THROUGH NOVEMBER AND PROVIDES INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING IN PROPER TECHNIQUE INCLUDING NUTRITION AND OPPORTUNITIES TO COMPETE IN MEETS FOR YOUTH AGED 7 TO 18. PROGRAM WAS HELD UNDER SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES WITH ~60 PARTICIPANTS. RUNNERS PARTICIPATED IN UP TO 6 CROSS COUNTRY MEETS WITH PAID COACHING STAFF AS CONTRACTORS.


ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RUN - FREE YOUTH SPRING RUN TO ENCOURAGE RUNNING ACTIVITIES AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LEVEL


ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS FOR COLUMBUS RUNNING CLUB ARE: 1. YOUTH TRACK PROGRAM (MAY-JULY) WHICH INTRODUCES YOUTH TO THE SPORT OF TRACK AND FIELD UTILIZING PAID COACHES AS CONTRACTORS. ATHLETES ATTEND UP TO 5 MEETS. 2. FIRECRACKER 5K ROAD RACE WHICH IS A FUNDRAISER TO 2 POST SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIPS.
