THE HUDSON LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY KNOWN FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO INTELLECTUAL FREEDOM SHALL MEET ITS PATRONS' NEEDS IN A TIMELY RESPONSIVE AND DEPENDABLE MANNER. THE HUDSON LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY WILL PROVIDE ACCESS TO INFORMATION ASSIST IN THE PRESERVATION OF COMMUNITY HISTORY AND PROVIDE GENEALOGICAL AND HISTORICAL RESOURCES.

HUDSON LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS A COMMUNITY LENDING LIBRARY AND ITS PRIMARY SERVICE IS THE MAINTENANCE AND ADDITION OF RESOURCES FOR THE USE OF ITS SERVICE POPULATION. RESOURCES INCLUDE BOOKS DVD'S CD'S AUDIOBOOKS COMPUTER CLASSES DATABASES ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND PERIODICALS. THE LIBRARY PROVIDES COMPUTERS STUDY ROOMS MEETING ROOMS AND GENERAL AREAS OF RESEARCH. THE HUDSON LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S HOLDINGS INCLUDE 250,000 ITEMS. THE BUILDING IS 55,000 SQUARE FEET WITH THE AREA DIVIDED INTO CHILDREN ADULT ARCHIVES TEEN AND POPULAR LIBRARIES. THE LIBRARY CIRCULATED ALMOST 1,100,000 ITEMS IN 2022. THE LIBRARY ALSO PROVIDES NOTARY SERVICES TO PATRONS.
DURING THE YEAR THE HUDSON LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY GIVES OR HOSTS MANY PROGRAMS OF INTEREST TO THE COMMUNITY. AWARD-WINNING AUTHORS COME AND GIVE BOOK TALKS AND THERE ARE MUSICAL AND THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES ALMOST WEEKLY. THE CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT HAS STORY HOURS OF READING SKILLS KINDERMUSIK OF THE AWARENESS OF THE ARTS AND ANIMAL BUBBLE AND MUSIC SHOWS FOR ENTERTAINMENT. THE LIBRARY PROVIDES MANY PROGRAMS DEDICATED TO ENTREPRENEURIAL AND BUSINESS STUDIES. IN 2022 THE LIBRARY OVER 1,000 PROGRAMS MOSTLY VIRTUAL WITH OVER 33,800 IN TOTAL ATTENDANCE.
THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY DIVISION OF THE LIBRARY IS DEDICATED TO LOCAL HISTORY AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH. THE LIBRARY'S ARCHIVES CONTAIN ARTIFACTS PERTAINING TO THE LOCAL HISTORY OF HUDSON AND IS THE DEPOSITORY OF VARIOUS COMMUNITY GROUP'S RECORDS. DATABASE MICROFORM AND PRINT MATERIALS AID PATRONS IN THE RESEARCH OF LOCAL ANCESTORS. THERE IS A FULL-TIME ARCHIVIST TO MAINTAIN THE COLLECTIONS ASSIST IN RESEARCH AND GIVE CLASSES AND INSTRUCTION.
