ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL IS AN ACUTE CARE FACILITY PROVIDING INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. A 300 BED FACILITY IN MAUMEE, OHIO, ST LUKE'S PROVIDES EXTENSIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES SUCH AS EMERGENCY MEDICINE; SURGICAL SERVICES; OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL, PULMONARY AND CARDIAC REHABILITATION; CRITICAL CARE; CARDIOLOGY; RESPIRATORY; LABOR AND DELIVERY; AND A FULL RANGE OF LABORATORY AND RADIOLOGY SERVICES. ST. LUKE'S CAMPUS IS HOME TO THE PROMEDICA MAUMEE CANCER CENTER FOR OUTPATIENT CANCER CARE, AS WELL AS A SLEEP DISORDERS CLINIC, A PAIN CLINIC, AND A FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER. IN 2021, ST. LUKE'S ALSO HAD CHEST PAIN ACCREDITATION FROM THE SOCIETY OF CARDIOVASCULAR. PATIENT CARE, PRIMARY STROKE CENTER CERTIFICATION, AND THE LABORATORY WAS CERTIFIED BY THE COLLEGE OF AMERICAN PATHOLOGISTS. IN 2021, ST. LUKE'S BECAME A PRIMARY PLUS STROKE CENTER THROUGH DNV HEALTHCARE.ST. LUKE'S SERVED 7,751 INPATIENTS AND 171,636 OUTPATIENTS IN 2021. FURTHER, 27,427 INDIVIDUALS SOUGHT EMERGENCY CARE AT ST. LUKE'S. THE HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTED $14,591,446 IN COMMUNITY BENEFIT THROUGH COMMUNITY BENEFIT EXPENDITURES, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND GOVERNMENT SPONSORED, MEANS-TESTED HEALTHCARE.
CONSISTENT WITH OUR MISSION, ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL PROVIDES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS WITH LIMITED OR NO ABILITY TO PAY.ST. LUKE'S PROVIDED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE COMMUNITY DURING 2021 OF WHICH $1,372,186 REPRESENTED UNCOMPENSATED AMOUNTS FOR TREATMENT TO THOSE PATIENTS WHO DID NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO PAY FOR HOSPITAL SERVICES. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE REPRESENTS THE COST TO PROVIDE SERVICE AND DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COSTS FOR ACCOUNTS WRITTEN OFF TO BAD DEBT FOR PATIENTS WHO DID NOT PAY THEIR BILLS. ST. LUKE'S COST OF BAD DEBT FOR 2021 WAS $873,702. THIS AMOUNT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE $14,591,446 NOTED ABOVE.FURTHER, ST. LUKE'S PROVIDED $11,486782 OF COMMUNITY BENEFIT THROUGH COSTS - NOT REIMBURSED BY THE GOVERNMENT - FOR TREATING MEDICAID AND OTHER MEANS TESTED PATIENTS.
