THE 3RS PROGRAM AIMS TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION AND OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM THROUGH A UNIQUE CURRICULUM ADDRESSING CONCEPTS APPEARING IN END-OF-YEAR TESTS FOR GOVERNMENT CLASS STUDENTS. IT ALSO HELPS STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE VITAL IMPORTANCE OF GRADUATION, HIGHER EDUCATION, AND DEVELOPING A PLAN FOR THEIR LIVES FOLLOWING HIGH SCHOOL. 700 STUDENTS WERE SERVED IN THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOMS. 192 VOLUNTEER LAWYERS, JUDGES, AND LAW STUDENTS TOOK PART IN TEACHING AND MENTORING ACTIVITIES.
LAW DAY, CLEVELAND HOMELESS LEGAL ASSISTANCE, REACH OUT FOR NON-PROFITS, SUMMER LEGAL ACADEMY, TLC AT CMSD, VOLUNTEER LAWYERS FOR ART, AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
THE LOUIS STOKES SCHOLARS PROGRAM IS A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM THAT OFFERS AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE LAW AND LEGAL CAREERS. THIS SUMMER PROGRAM IS HANDS-ON AND INTERACTIVE, PROVIDING PARTICIPANTS WITH STIPEND PAID INTERNSHIPS, GROUP LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND SEMINARS FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PROFESSIONAL SKILL BUILDING, MENTORS, TIPS AND RESOURCES FOR HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN COLLEGE, AND AN INTRODUCTION TO LAW SCHOOL FROM THE LSAT (LAW SCHOOL ADMISSIONS TEST) TO ADMISSIONS TO FINANCIAL AID AND CURRICULUM.
THE OHIO & CLEVELAND MOCK TRIAL PROGRAMS ARE LAW-RELATED ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. FOR THE OHIO COMPETITION, WE COORDINATE THE CUYAHOGA DISTRICT AND REGIONAL COMPETITIONS. FOR THE CLEVELAND COMPETITION, WE HOST A ONE-DAY PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS IN CLEVELAND AND EAST CLEVELAND SCHOOL DISTRICTS. THESE PROGRAMS GARNERED THE SUPPORT OF 56 VOLUNTEERS, SUPPORTING 516 STUDENTS. THE MOCK TRIALS OFFER A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT THE LAW AND HONE IMPORTANT SKILLS SUCH AS CRITICAL THINKING, PUBLIC SPEAKING, AND WORKING AS A TEAM.
