ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM: ADULT BASIC EDUCATION AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS ENGAGES STUDENTS IN LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT INCREASE READING, WRITING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. TUTORS WORK WITH OUR STUDENTS ONE-TO-ONE OR IN SMALL GROUPS SETTING GOALS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM, AT WORK AND IN LIFE.
CREATING YOUNG READERS PROGRAM: THIS LINE OF SERVICE AFFORDS VOLUNTEERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH CHILDREN AGES 3-8 (PRESCHOOL THROUGH 2ND GRADE) WHO ARE AT RISK OF FALLING BEHIND IN EMERGENT LITERACY SKILLS. READER FRIENDS MEET ONE-TO-ONE WITH A CHILD ON READING, ALPHABET RECOGNITION AND OTHER SKILLS ALL WHILE SHARING THEIR LOVE OF READING.
CLAIRE'S DAY: THIS LINE OF SERVICE IS DEDICATED TO INSPIRING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TO BE LIFELONG READERS. WE DO THIS TO HONOR CLAIRE LYNSEY RUBINI, WHO PASSED AWAY FROM A HEART CONDITION IN 2000 WHEN SHE WAS JUST TEN YEARS OLD. CELEBRATING LIFE, AUTHORS, ILLUSTRATORS AND READING EXCELLENCE, CLAIRE'S DAY ANNUALLY SERVES MORE THAN 20,000 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES.
