CLINICAL AND OTHER PROGRAMS AT AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTERIN 2015, THE AKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION PROVIDED TO SUPPORT AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER INCLUDING THE CANCER CENTER, THE HEART AND VASCULAR CENTER, ORTHOPEDICS, RADIATION/ONCOLOGY, HOSPICE AND REHABILITATION SERVICES.
CLINICAL RESEARCH AT AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTERAKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE RESEARCH EFFORTS AT AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER'S MCDOWELL CANCER CENTER, AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER'S CHAPMAN CRITICAL CARE CENTER, AND AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER'S CALHOUN RESEARCH CENTER. RESEARCH CONTINUES TO BE FOCUSED ON CANCER, WOUND TREATMENT METHODS, CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS, PULMONARY, CRITICAL CARE AND ORTHOPEDICS.
HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION AT AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTERTHE MEDICAL STAFF OF AKRON GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM IS ABLE TO ATTEND VISITING PROFESSORS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS UNDERWRITTEN BY THE AKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION SUCH AS: THE APIC CONFERENCE FOR THE INFECTION PREVENTION STAFF, ROUSSI VISITING PROFESSORSHIP FOR ED RESIDENTS, THE J. ROBERT WILSON LECTURESHIP FOR THE PULMONARY DEPARTMENT OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDEES AND THE DENISE CARRABINE LECTURE WHICH IS ALSO OPENED TO OUTSIDE ATTENDEES. FUNDS FROM THE AKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION ALSO WERE USED TO EDUCATE AND TRAIN STAFF ON IMPORTANT PATIENT INITIATIVES SUCH AS INFECTION CONTROL.
AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER'S RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO OFFER ITS SERVICES AT NO COST TO UNDERINSURED PATIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY THANKS TO SUPPORT FROM THE AKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION. AKRON GENERAL FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDED FUNDING FOR THE INSTALLATION OF AED UNITS IN VARIOUS PUBLIC LOCATIONS.
