THE UNITED WAY SERVES AS A SINGLE, COMMUNITY-WIDE, VOLUNTARY FUND RAISING AGENCY FOR VAN WERT COUNTY, OHIO. IT PROVIDES A BROAD NUMBER OF HEALTH, WELFARE, AND OTHER SERVICES TO THE COMMMUNITY ON A NONDISCRIMINATORY BASIS. AGENCY ALLOCATIONS FOR THE CAMPAIGN YEAR WERE APPROVED AFTER EACH AGENCY HAD SUBMITTED A FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE ADMISSIONS & REVIEW COMMITTEE. A REVIEW AND EVALUATION OF ALL REQUESTS FOR PROGRAM FUNDING OCCURS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ALLOCATIONS TAKE PLACE. PROGRAMS AND UNITED WAY AGENCY OPERATIONS ARE MONITORED TO ASSURE ADHERENCE TO ACCEPTED PURPOSES, REQUESTS ARE REVIEWED FOR NEW UNITED WAY AGENCIES AND PROGRAMS, AND SITE VISITS OCCUR TO ALL PARTICIPATING UNITED WAY AGENCIES. TO MAXIMIZE COMMUNITY IMPACT, THE UNITED WAY STAFF WORK TO DISCOVER COMMUNITY CONDITIONS IN NEED OF IMPROVEMENT, DESIGN AND BUILD LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHERS, AND WHEN THE NEED ARISES, WORK ALONGSIDE THE AGENCIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY.
