LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION THE VIETNAMESE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN IN THE USA FOR 46 YEARS, THEY STILL CELEBRATE BOTH TWO NEW YEARS: THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR NEW YEAR AND LUNAR NEW YEAR. THE GREGORIAN NEW YEAR COMES FIRST AND THEN AROUND THE END OF JANUARY OR EARLY FEBRUARY THE LUNAR NEW YEAR ARRIVES.
BUDDHA'S BIRTHDAY CEREMONY BUDDHA'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FALLS ON APRIL 15 OF LUNAR CALENDAR. IN VIET NAM THIS CEREMONY HAPPENS ONLY ON APRIL 15, ONLY ONE DAY EVERYWHERE IN THE NATION. IN THE USA, IT HAPPENS MOSTLY ON ALL FOUR SUNDAYS OF APRIL. THE CONGREGATION ALSO CELEBRATES WHERE THE CROWDED VIETNAMESE COMMUNITY IS.
VU LAN (PARENTAL) SEASON CELEBRATION VU LAN SEASON ON JULY 15 OF LUNAR CALENDAR. IT IS MORE CROWDED THAN THE LUNAR NEW YEAR AND BUDDHA'S BIRTHDAY. THIS EVENT OCCUPIES ABOUT 40% OF ALL THE YEAR ROUND EVENTS. IN THIS SEASON, CHILDREN USUALLY BRING THEIR PARENTS TO THE TEMPLES, TO THE RESTAURANT OR TO TRAVEL. WHEN DISCIPLES GO TO THE TEMPLES, THEY ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE MONKS OR NUNS AS THEIR PARENTS. VU LAN SEASON USUALLY HAPPENS DURING THE LUNAR MONTH OF JULY, THE MAIN DAY IS JULY 15. IT IS SIMILAR TO THE MOTHER'S DAY AND FATHER'S DAY. IF THEIR PARENTS ALREADY PASSED AWAY, IT IS A CHANCE FOR THE CHILDREN
