THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF VETERINARY PATHOLOGISTS AND THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR VETERINARY CLINICAL PATHOLOGY HELD A COMBINED ANNUAL MEETING. THE ANNUAL MEETING HAD 1,147 ATTENDEES. THE ORGANIZERS PROVIDED SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION SESSIONS PLANNED BY A COMBINED EDUCATION COMMITTEE.
PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL. THE JOURNAL HELPS THE COLLEGE FURTHER PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT AND SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE, LIFE-LONG LEARNING, AND PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCY.
THE ACVP EXAMINATION CERTIFIES THAT CANDIDATES HAVE COMPLETED TRAINING ADEQUATE TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE SUFFICIENT TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE BROAD SPECTRUM OF ASSESSMENT AND INTERPRETATION OF SPECIMENS, PROBLEMS AND SITUATIONS ENCOUNTERED BY VETERINARY PATHOLOGISTS. THERE ARE TWO CERTIFYING EXAMINATIONS, ONE FOR ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY AND ONE FOR CLINICAL PATHOLOGY, THAT ARE RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN BOARD OF VETERINARY SPECIALTIES OF THE AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. THE CERTIFYING EXAMINATION IS DIVIDED INTO TWO SEPARATE EXAMS, PHASE I AND PHASE II. THE PHASE I EXAM CAN BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS FOLLOWING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF TRAINING AND THE PHASE II CERTIFYING EXAM IS TAKEN AT THE COMPLETION OF TRAINING AND IS NEEDED TO BE CERTIFIED.
