AS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, IN 2015 THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED FROM THE ESTATE OF RACHEL L. MELLON A 100% INTEREST IN OAK SPRING GARDEN LLC, A LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY WHOSE ASSETS INCLUDE A LIBRARY BUILDING AND OTHER REAL PROPERTY, FINE ART, BOOKS AND MANUSCRIPTS, AND OTHER PROPERTY USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A LIBRARY THAT PROMOTES THE ADVANCEMENT OF PRACTICAL AND THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE OF BOTANICAL SPECIMENS, GARDENS, GARDEN DESIGN AND HISTORY. THROUGH THE LLC, THE FOUNDATION INCURRED COSTS AND EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH MAINTAINING AND OPERATING THIS LIBRARY, AND ON JULY 1, 2016, THE FOUNDATION TRANSFERRED ITS 100% INTEREST IN THE LLC TO OAK SPRING GARDEN FOUNDATION, A PRIVATE OPERATING FOUNDATION, ESTABLISHED BY RACHEL L. MELLON, THAT WILL CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE THE LIBRARY IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.
