THE MISSION OF THE WESTERN ILLINOIS MUSEUM IS TO NURTURE OUR HISTORY AND CULTURE. THE MUSEUM PRESERVES ARTIFACTS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS THAT TELL THE STORIES OF THE PEOPLE OF THE REGION AND THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THE ARTIFACTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH AND ARE USED TO PRESENT EXHIBITS AND PUBLIC PROGRAMS.

COLLECTION: WE PRESERVE OVER 6,000 ARTIFACTS THAT TELL THE STORY OF THE LIVES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE LIVED AND MADE WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS THEIR HOME.
EXHIBITS: WE PRESENT ROTATING EXHIBITS OF ARTIFACTS FROM THE COLLECTION. THERE IS NO COST TO VIEW EXHIBITS AND THE MUSEUM IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FIVE DAYS A WEEK.
PUBLIC PROGRAMS: WE PRESENT AN AVERAGE OF 35 PROGRAMS ANNUALLY THAT ENGAGE AND FOSTER CONVERSATIONS AMONG 4,000 VISITORS TO THE MUSEUM. PROGRAMS FOCUS ON BUILDING AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE REGION'S HISTORY AND CULTURE. COVID RESTRICTIONS HAVE NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BOTH ATTENDANCE ND THE NUMBER OF PROGRAMS WE OFFERED IN 2021. PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED FOR FREE WITH A SUGGESTED DONATION AT THE DOOR.
