WE ARE CONTINUING EFFORTS TO COMPLETE THE VKSS TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PUBLICATION. THIS PROGRAM WILL ENHANCE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN. EFFORTS HAVE BEEN VOLUNTEER.
AIM TO PREVENT IS A PROJECT DESIGNED TO INTERVENE WITH PRESCHOOLERS WHO MAY BE AT RISK OF DEVELOPING DYSLEXIA LATER IN THEIR SCHOOL CAREER. FRED J. WELLINGTON FOUNDATION DEVELOPED THIS MODEL TO INTERVENE WITH PRESCHOOL AGED CHILDREN, SPECIFICALLY WITH THE LANGUAGE SYSTEM TIED TO DYSLEXIA, AND HAS ALREADY SEEN SUCCESS IN LIMITED TRIALS. THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT ARE TO EQUIP STUDENTS WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO RESPOND EFFECTIVELY TO THE QUALITY PHONICS INSTRUCTION THAT WILL START IN KINDERGARTEN. THE AIM TO PREVENT PROJECT WILL EXPAND THESE PROMISING FINDINGS AND USE UNIVERSAL SCREENING TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN SHOWING EARLY SIGNS OF DYSLEXIA. IF PROVEN SUCCESSFUL, THIS MODEL COULD BE REPLICATED ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO PREVENT CHILDREN WITH DYSLEXIA FROM BEING LEFT BEHIND. TO BE CLEAR, THIS PROGRAM IS NOT A READING PROGRAM; RATHER, IT IS A "PRE-READING" PROGRAM THAT WILL INTRODUCE THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO RECEIVE READING INSTRUCTION WHEN CHILDREN ARE OLDER AND DEVELOPMENTALLY READY TO RECEIVE
