ENHANCE THE PATIENT AND FAMILY EXPERIENCE AT MIAMI VALLEY HOSPITAL BY RAISING COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR CUTTING-EDGE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WHICH HELP BUILD HEALTHY COMMUNITIES.

DURING THE WORST HEALTH CRISIS IN A CENTURY, THE MIAMI VALLEY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION SOLICITED AND COORDINATED DONATIONS TO BENEFIT PATIENTS AND STAFF AT MIAMI VALLEY HOSPITAL SITES AND ITS STAND-ALONE ANCILLARY LOCATIONS. AS THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC CONTINUED FOR A SECOND YEAR, THE FOUNDATION WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO DISTRIBUTED SUPPORT FROM A COVID-19 RELIEF FUND TO EMPLOYEES WHO NEEDED HELP PAYING BILLS, AS WELL AS PROVIDING TUTORING AND WIFI HOTSPOTS FOR EMPLOYEES' DEPENDENTS. AS STRENUOUS, LONG HOURS CONTINUED TO MOUNT FOR CLINICIANS IN COVID DESIGNATED UNITS, THE FOUNDATION COORDINATED THE LOCATION OF RESPITE ROOMS ON FLOORS WHERE STAFF COULD TAKE A BRIEF BREAK FROM CARING FOR THEIR PATIENTS. THE FOUNDATION SOLICITED AND COORDINATED THE IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS OF FOOD AND DRINKS TO KEEP RESPITE ROOMS STOCKED, AS WELL AS FACILITATED MEAL DONATIONS FOR EMPLOYEES. OVERALL, FOUNDATION STAFF COMMUNICATED WITH DONORS AND FACILITATED THE DELIVERY AND DISTRIBUTION OF CONTRIBUTED MEALS AND MATERIALS TO UNITS, PROGRAMS, AND EMPLOYEES THROUGHOUT THE HOSPITAL AND AT STAND-ALONE FACILITIES, ENSURING AN EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION OF THE DONATED GOODS.
PROMISE TO HOPE IS A DONOR-FUNDED SERVICE OFFERED AT MIAMI VALLEY HOSPITAL FOR PREGNANT AND POSTPARTUM WOMEN WITH SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER. THE PROGRAM COORDINATES PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM CARE, AS WELL AS CONNECTIONS TO CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TREATMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. PROGRAM STAFF PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE MOTHER AND BABY UNTIL THE INFANT'S FIRST BIRTHDAY. WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS ARE CONDUCTED BY STAFF TO PROMOTE A SAFE PLACE FOR MOMS TO MEET AND BUILD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, LEARN PARENTING AND LIFE SKILLS, AND CONNECT WITH RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN THE COMMUNITY. OUTSIDE SPEAKERS ATTEND THESE MEETINGS TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND SHARE INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR SERVICES.PROMISE TO HOPE HAS CULTIVATED STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH AREA COMMUNITY SERVICE AGENCIES TO OFFER SEAMLESS ACCESS TO CARE. COLLABORATION WITH OUR PROGRAM PARTNERS HELPS PROVIDE ONGOING SUPPORT AND COORDINATED CARE. THIS CARE INCLUDES MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENT, GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, PRENATAL CARE, THE WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP, AND OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES. PROMISE TO HOPE CARE COORDINATORS ASSESS EACH MOM'S UNIQUE NEEDS TO PROVIDE CONTINUING INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT, ADVOCACY AND REFERRALS. SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN MAY 2015, MORE THAN 700 MOMS HAVE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM.
THE MVH FOUNDATION RAISES FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE CERTIFIED DIABETES EDUCATORS WHO PROVIDE EDUCATION FOR INPATIENTS AND OUTPATIENTS. BASED AT THE BULL FAMILY DIABETES CENTER, THE DIABETES EDUCATORS COMPLETED 1,149 INPATIENT VISITS IN 2021. IN ADDITION, THE MVH FOUNDATION HELPED FUND OUTPATIENT DIABETES EDUCATION FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE UNINSURED OR UNDERINSURED. PROCEEDS FROM THE VALLEY CLASSIC HELP SUSTAIN THIS VITAL PROGRAM THAT ENHANCES THE LIVES OF DIABETES PATIENTS THROUGHOUT OUR AREA.
