SPONSORED, ORGANIZED, AND HOSTED A VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING ON JUNE 16, 2020, ATTENDED BY INDIVIDUALS IN THE FIELDS OF MINING AND THE RECLAMATION OF DISTURBED LANDS. THE MEETING INCLUDED RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING STUDENTS MAJORING IN RECLAMATION-RELATED AREAS AS WELL AS PROFESSIONALS SIMILARLY ENGAGED.
AT THE ANNUAL MEETING, SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING $4,500.WERE AWARDED TO THREE GRADUATE AND ONE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT DOING RESEARCH AND STUDIES IN RECLAMATION. FIVE PROFESSIONAL RECLAMATIONISTS WERE AWARDED A TOTAL OF $2,000 IN RECOGNITION OF THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCIENCE AND PRACTICE OF QUALITY RECLAMATION WORKS.
CONTINUED TO UPGRADE AND UPDATE THE ASRS WEB PRESENCE, THE SITE INCLUDES FREE JOB LISTINGS, ANNOUNCEMENTS OF MEETINGS OF OTHER RELATED SOCIETIES, ANNOUNCEMENTS OF OTHER OPPORTUNITIES IN RECLAMATION, AND INFORMATION ABOUT THE ANNUAL ASRS MEETING. WE DISTRIBUTED THE ASRS POPULAR MAGAZINE "RECLAMATION MATTERS" TO THE MEMBERSHIP AND OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS. OUR ONLINE JOURNAL, JASMR, EDITED, ACCEPTED, AND PUBLISHED TECHNICAL ARTICLES. AN ADDITIONAL EXPENSE THIS YEAR WAS OUR "REBRANDING PROJECT," INCLUDING RENAMING THE ASSOCIATION TO THE "AMERICAN SOCIETY OF RECLAMATION SCIENCES, INC." AND REWORKING OUR JOURNAL, ETC.
