EDUCATION/EVENT EXPENSES: ONE OF ITS MAIN FUNCTIONS AND A STRATEGIC PRIORITY, THE NEVADA HOUSING COALITION (NHC) PROVIDES EDUCATION TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING STAKEHOLDERS STATEWIDE. IN 2022, NHC LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM, ELEVATENV AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO PROVIDE CAPACITY BUILDING FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FINANCE & CONSTRUCTION & SUPPORTIVE HOUSING. ELEVATENV HOSTED 18 VIRTUAL & IN PERSON EVENTS WITH MORE THAN 300 UNIQUE PARTICIPANTS. ADDITIONALLY, NHC HOSTED ITS VIRTUAL MONTHLY LUNCH & LEARN SERIES. FINALLY, NHC COORDINATED & HOSTED THE 2022 ANNUAL STATEWIDE HOUSING CONFERENCE. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROVIDES AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVOCATES AND STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS NEVADA A CHANCE TO LEARN AND SHARE BEST PRACTICES THROUGH PLENARY AND BREAKOUT SESSIONS, & ALSO NETWORK WITH THEIR PEERS. THE 2022 CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN OCTOBER IN RENO. EDUCATION EXPENSES INCLUDE STAFF TIME, CONTRACT SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, VENUE, SPEAKERS, AND OTHER APPROPRIATE EVENT EXPENSES.
ADVOCACY: ONE OF THE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES OF THE NEVADA HOUSING COALITION (NHC) IS ADVOCACY. THE WORK OF NHC IN THIS SPACE IS PRIMARILY FOR EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING CHALLENGES FACED BY NEVADANS AND THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR POLICY SOLUTIONS, BOTH STATUTORY AND REGULATORY. A VERY SMALL PORTION OF THE NEVADA HOUSING COALITIONS BUDGET SERVES LOBBYING EXPENSES INCURRED DURING THE STATE LEGISLATIVE SESSION OR OCCASIONAL MEETINGS WITH VOTING ACTIONS OF ELECTED OFFICIALS. ADVOCACY EXPENSES INCLUDE CONTRACTED EXPENSES, STAFF TIME, AND POLICY FORUM EVENTS AND THEIR CORRESPONDING EXPENSES.
COLLABORATION / PARTNERSHIPS: THE NEVADA HOUSING COALITION (NHC) HAS A ROBUST STRATEGY TO ENGAGE AND COLLABORATE WITH STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS NEVADA, AS BOTH COALITION MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE HOSTED MEETINGS AND ROUNDTABLES, PARTICIPATION IN VARIOUS WORKING GROUPS AND INITIATIVES, ONE-ON-ONE RELATIONSHIP BUILDING EFFORTS AND OUTREACH.
