FRIENDS OF THE RAINFOREST (FCER) IS COMMITTED TO OUR MISSION OF EDUCATING AND INSPIRING CHILDREN AND ADULTS TO TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT, SUPPORT, AND EXPAND THE RAINFOREST.

CONSERVATION: FCER PROVIDES GRANTS TO SUPPORT, PROTECT, AND EXPAND THE CHILDRENS ETERNAL RAINFOREST AND SURROUNDING REGION.


ECOTRAVEL: FCER EXPANDED A SCIENTIFIC STUDY ABROAD CURRICULUM TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN LEARNING ABOUT SCIENCE, PEACE, TROPICAL ECOLOGY, CONSERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS ROLE. FCER CONTINUED THIS PROGRAM WHERE PARTICIPANTS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE FOREST BY STAYING AT ITS FIELD STATIONS, LEARN ABOUT THE RAINFOREST THROUGH GUIDED INTERPRETIVE HIKES AND WILDLIFE OBSERVATION WITH EXPERIENCED NATURALISTS, AND LEARN ABOUT COSTA RICAN HISTORY, CULTURE, AND CUISINE. THE ORGANIZATION HAD 3 TRIPS, WHICH INCLUDED 15 ADULTS AND 18 CHILDREN.


EDUCATION AND OUTREACH/AWARENESS: FCER EXPANDED A SCIENTIFIC STUDY ABROAD CURRICULUM TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN LEARNING ABOUT SCIENCE, PEACE, TROPICAL ECOLOGY, CONSERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS ROLE IN ALL OF THESE MAKING IT AVAILABLE GLOBALLY ONLINE. IN ADDITION, UPON REQUEST FCER PROVIDED SUPPORT TO SCHOOLS AND INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN SEEKING TO BECOME ENGAGED IN LEARNING ABOUT AND SUPPORTING THE FOREST. FCER CONDUCTED COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF ISSUES RELATING TO RAINFORESTS AND GLOBAL CONSERVATION INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS ON CLIMATE CHANGE, TROPICAL ECOLOGY, DEFORESTATION, WILDLIFE CORRIDORS AND BIODIVERSITY TO 746 STUDENTS IN 39 CLASSROOMS AND AN ESTIMATED 10,422 KIDS AND ADJUSTS WERE REACHED THROUGH OTHER EDUCATION ENDEAVORS (TABLING, ETC.).
