TO INITIATE, DEVELOP AND ACCELERATE IMPLEMENTATION OF GREEN BUILDING CONCEPTS, TECHNOLOGIES AND PRINCIPLES THAT PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE, PROSPEROUS AND HEALTHY PLACES TO LIVE, WORK, AND LEARN.

USGBC-MISSOURI GATEWAY CHAPTER CELEBRATED ITS 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN 2021 AS AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS COMMITTED TO MAKING EVERY BUILDING A GREEN BUILDING. THROUGHOUT 2021, WE CONTINUED TO ASSIST IN CREATING GREEN AND HEALTHY SPACES TO LIVE, WORK, AND LEARN BY PROVIDING ROBUST OUTREACH AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING: 1. WE PROVIDED YEAR-LONG OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT GREEN BUILDING TO CONNECT AND LEARN. IN 2021, WE HOSTED NEARLY 30 UNIQUE MONTHLY EVENTS AND COFFEE BREAK SESSIONS ON A WIDE VARIETY OF GREEN BUILDING AND SUSTAINABILITY TOPICS. 2. WE OFFERED A HYBRID VERSION OF THE GREEN SCHOOLS QUEST FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR, GIVING SCHOOLS AN OPTION TO CHOOSE THE TRADITIONAL SIX-MONTH LONG PROJECT OR A MONTHLY SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE. THIRTY-ONE SCHOOLS ARE PARTICIPATING SUPPORTED BY VOLUNTEER GREEN MENTORS. 3. OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MISSOURI ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION TO CO-DELIVER THE MISSOURI GREEN SCHOOLS PROGRAM CONTINUES TO THRIVE. THIS IS A TRACKING AND RECOGNITION PROGRAM FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH 12TH GRADE SCHOOLS IN MISSOURI, DESIGNED TO HELP SCHOOLS IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF STUDENTS AND STAFF, REDUCE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT, AND INCORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION.4. WORKING WITH MANY PARTNERS, WE CONTINUED SUPPORTING THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THEIR ENERGY BENCHMARKING REQUIREMENTS AND THE BUILDING ENERGY PERFORMANCE STANDARD (BEPS). WE HAVE DELIVERED MANY PRESENTATIONS ABOUT BEPS AND WE LAUNCHED A BRAND NEW INITIATIVE THE BUILDING ENERGY EXCHANGE ST. LOUIS. THE BUILDING ENERGY EXCHANGE ST. LOUIS WILL SUPPORT BUILDING OWNERS IN THEIR EFFORTS TO MAKE ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS, ESPECIALLY THOSE OWNERS WHO HAVE TO COMPLY WITH BEPS.
