FRIENDS OF ABILITIES FIRST, INC. IS A NON-PROFIT FORMED TO PROVIDE, SOLICIT, GENERATE FUNDS AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE HEALTH, WELFARE, AND EDUCATION OF THOSE SERVED BY ABILITIES FIRST FOR PURPOSES OF TRAINING, ASSISTING, AND EDUCATING THOSE PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.

FRIENDS OF ABILITIES FIRST, INC. PROVIDED SUPPORT AND SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS TOTALING 7,825 TO ABILITIES FIRST FOR THE ART INSPIRED ACADEMY PROGRAM. THE ART INSPIRED ACADEMY AT ABILITIES FIRST ENABLES PARTICIPANTS OF ALL AGES TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES THROUGH INCLUSIVE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES WHILE WORKING ON GOALS TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION, MOTOR SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, SELF-CONTROL AND CONFIDENCE. ART INSPIRED ACADEMY CLASSES ARE CONDUCTED IN VARIOUS PLACES THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY AND ENCOMPASS A WIDE RANGE OF ARTS INCLUDING PAINTING, DRAWING, POTTERY, PHOTOGRAPHY, ACTING, MUSICAL THEATRE AND MUSIC THERAPY.
FRIENDS OF ABILITIES FIRST, INC. PROVIDED EMERGENCY RENT AND UTILITIES ASSISTANCE TOTALING 1,242 FOR 2 INDIVIDUALS. IN-KIND CHRISTMAS GIFTS THROUGH THE CHRISTMAS ROOM INITIATIVE WERE PROVIDED TO 31 FAMILIES. 4 FAMILIES WERE SELECTED THROUGH THE ADOPT-A-FAMILY INITIATIVE RECEIVED CHRISTMAS GIFTS TOTALING 3,434. THESE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WERE RECOMMENDED BY SUPPORT COORDINATORS FROM THE NEXT STEP AND FIRST STEPS PROGRAMS OF ABILITIES FIRST. IN ADDITION, THROUGH A GRANT FROM COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE OZARKS, TABLETS & WIFI WAS PROVIDED TO 150 INDIVIDUALS TOTALING 25,474.
