THROUGH ITS ACTIVITIES, FRIENDS OF MOECKEL POND WILL DEVELOP FOR THE TOWN OF WINDHAM A PREMIER POND, WETLAND AND NATURE AREA THAT WILL PROVIDE WILDLIFE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES, HISTORICAL RENOVATION, PASSIVE WATER SPORTS ACTIVITIES, AND A FIRE PROTECTION RESERVOIR.

WORK CONTINUED IN 2022 TO FINISH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND GRANT FULLY COMPLETING THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION. A PRESERVATION CONSULTANT WAS ENGAGED TO ESTABLISH THE HISTORICAL SIGNAGE REQUIRED BY THE STATE HISTORICAL ORGANIZATION. SIGNAGE DOCUMENTING THE HISTORY, OWNERSHIP AND RECONSTRUCTION OF THE DAM WAS INSTALLED. ROCKS AND BOULDERS FROM THE HISTORIC DAM WERE USED TO CONSTRUCT A WALL SIMULATING A FOUNDATION WALL OF THE ORIGINAL MILL. MILLSTONES FROM THE HISTORIC GRIST MILL WERE INCORPORATED INTO THE WALL. COMMEMORATIVE SIGNS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED AND WILL BE INSTALLED IN 2024. FUNDING FROM NH LOTTERY COMMISSION'S CHARITY GAMING HAS PROVIDED THE ABILITY TO REPAY THE INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED WHILE COMPLETING THE DAM RECONSTRUCTION.
