THE MISSION OF THE THOMAS EDISON ENERGYSMART CHARTER SCHOOL IS TO PROVIDE ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS, INSTILLING THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY WILL NEED TO SUCCEED IN THEIR LIVES. THE SCHOOL AIMS TO FORGE A POWERFUL PARTNERSHIP OUT OF THE STUDENT-TEACHER-PARENT TRIAD. THIS PARTNERSHIP WILL PROVIDE AND EMPOWER OUR YOUTH WITH THE SUPPORT NECESSARY TO REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL INTELLECTUALLY, SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY BUILDING ON THEIR INHERENT PROMISE TO AID IN THEIR PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER. THOMAS EDISON ENERGYSMART CHARTER SCHOOL WAS GRANTED ITS CHARTER TO OPERATE THEIR CHARTER SCHOOL DURING THE 2010-2011 ACADEMIC YEAR, BUT COULD NOT OPEN ITS DOORS UNTIL SEPTEMBER, 2012, FOR THEIR FIRST SCHOOL YEAR, DUE TO BUILDING ISSUES. THOMAS EDISON ENERGYSMART CHARTER SCHOOL BEGAN ITS SCHOOL WITH GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 4 FOR ITS INITIAL YEAR, AND IT PLANS TO ADD A NEW GRADE EACH YEAR UP TO THE 12TH GRADE. FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR, THOMAS EDISON ENERGYSMART CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDED A FULL RANGE OF SERVICES APPROPRIATE TO GRADES KINDERGARTEN THRU 11. THESE SERVICES INCLUDED REGULAR, AS WELL AS SPECIAL EDUCATION AND BASIC SKILLS INSTRUCTION. THE CHARTER SCHOOL COMPLETED THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR WITH AN ENROLLMENT OF 538 STUDENTS.
