Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
2022 SAW A LOT OF BIG CHANGES FOR ABL TO BOTH OUR ORGANIZATION AND OUR FIELDS. WE SWITCHED FROM USSSA STYLE BASEBALL TO LITTLE LEAGUE, AND WE PARTNERED WITH 3 SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES TO FORM THE NEW SOUTHEAST POLK LITTLE LEAGUE. THIS CHANGE BROUGHT SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH; 340 REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS ON 29 TEAMS IN 2022, UP FROM 285 IN 2021. THE PARTNERSHIP ALLOWS FOR US TO MAINTAIN OUR FINANCIAL AUTONOMY WHILE AT THE SAME TIME GIVING OUR PLAYERS A MORE COMPETITIVE SEASON. IN PRIOR YEARS ALTOONA TEAMS ONLY PLAYED EACH OTHER, BUT NOW WE ARE PLAYING TEAMS THROUGHOUT THE DES MOINES METRO. THE CHANGES WE IMPLEMENTED THIS YEAR WILL HELP US CONTINUE TO GROW OUR LEAGUE AND OFFER A COMPETITIVE, YET AFFORDABLE LEAGUE FOR THE CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY.WE ALSO HAD 3 OF OUR 7 BASEBALL FIELDS RENOVATED, THANKS TO THE CITY OF ALTOONA. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE RENOVATIONS WE SAW A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF INCOME BECAUSE WITH THE FIELDS OUT OF COMMISSION, WE WERE UNABLE TO HOST TOURNAMENTS ON THE WEEKENDS. THE LOSS OF RENTAL INCOME, AND INCOME FROM WEEKEND CONCESSION STAND, COST US AN ESTIMATED $50,000. WE ARE COORDINATING WITH THE CITY TO MAKE FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS DURING THE OFF-SEASON, AND EXPECT TO SEE THE WEEKEND RENTALS AND ADDED CONCESSION INCOME TO RETURN IN 2023.
