Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
TO PROVIDE FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ICE ACTIVITIES AND ALSO TO PROVIDE PROGRAMMING WHICH EDUCATES AND TRAINS PEOPLE IN THOSE ACTIVITIES. WE PRIMARILY SERVICE THE BIG SKY COMMUNITY WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON PROVIDING AFFORDABLE RECREATIONAL OPTIONS FOR RESIDENTS AND EMPLOYEES, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WITH MORE MODEST INCOMES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DESCRIBE OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS BY CATEGORIZING "PROGRAM SERVICES" BASED UPON EXPENSES EXCEPT IN A GENERAL SENSE. THAT IS BECAUSE THE BSSHA'S EXPENDITURES ARE MOSTLY FOR A SINGLE ICE SKATING FACILITY AND THOSE BENEFIT A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS, INCLUDING YOUTH ICE HOCKEY, CURLING, BROOMBALL, OPEN SKATING, AND ADULT HOCKEY. IN 2021, WE CONTINUED TO BE CHALLENGED BECAUSE OF COVID AND ITS EFFECT ON OUR NORMAL FUNDRAISING, BUT, NONETHELESS, WE WERE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS. THE LARGEST SERVICE WAS OPEN SKATE, WHICH WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL. OUR LARGEST PROGRAM, YOUTH ICE HOCKEY GREW BY MORE THAN 25%, AND OUR SECOND LARGEST SERVICE PROGRAM, CURLING, SOLD OUT AGAIN. WE ARE PARTICULARLY PROUD THAT OUR RINK AND ITS PROGRAMS ARE HEAVILY USED BY RESIDENTS WHO WORK IN THE COMMUNITY AND THEIR FAMILIES, WHICH FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR HAS AN AVERAGE INCOME OF LESS THAN $55,000 A YEAR.
