THE MISSION OF CASA IS TO PROVIDE A WELL-TRAINED, SUPPORTED, AND MOTIVATED ADVOCATE FOR EVERY CHILD IN THE COUNTY FOSTER CARE SYSTEM.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

CASA FOR KIDS, INC PROVIDES GUARDIAN AD LITEM (GAL) SERVICES TO EVERY CHILD IN FLATHEAD AND LINCOLN COUNTY'S FOSTER CARE/DEPENDENT NEGLECT COURT SYSTEM. THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE OUR GOAL OF ASSIGNING A TRAINED ADVOCATE TO EVERY CHILD WITHIN 30 DAYS. IN 2022 WE RECRUITED AND TRAINED 21 NEW ADVOCATES, BRINGING OUR TOTAL NUMBER OF ADVOCATES TO 118. THIS GROUP OF ADVOCATES SERVED 235 CHILDREN OVER THE COURSE OF 2022. A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT FROM 2022 WAS ASSISTING A YOUNG MAN WHO HAD AGED OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM IN GETTING FORMALLY ADOPTED AS AN ADULT. THIS YOUNG MAN HAD BEEN PART OF OUR FOCUS PROGRAM WHICH ASSESSES THE VERY SPECIFIC NEEDS OF YOUTH AGES 14-18, AT RISK OF AGING OUT OF FOSTER CARE WITH NO FAMILY CONNECTIONS. HE WAS THE LAST OF HIS SIBLINGS TO GET ADOPTED AND HE HAD ALL BUT GIVEN UP HOPE TO BELONG TO A FAMILY. ADDITIONALLY, WE HELPED WITH CLOTHING, EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY AND SPORTS FEES, AND SUMMER CAMPS.
