CHICAGO VOLUNTEER DOULAS IS A BIRTH JUSTICE ORGANIZATION PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE DOULA SUPPORT FOR VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES IN CHICAGOLAND.

THE TRADITIONAL MODEL DOULA PROGRAM ALLOWS DOULAS TO MEET WITH MOMS PRENATALLY, ATTEND LABOR AND BIRTH, AND PROVIDE A POSTPARTUM FOLLOW-UP VISIT. FAMILIES SERVED ARE FROM MODERATE TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES.
POSTPARTUM DOULA PROGRAM - DOULAS PROVIDE UP TO 20 HOURS OF CARE WITHIN THE FIRST 12 WEEKS AFTER A BIRTH. SERVICES INCLUDE SUPPORT WITH INFANT FEEDING, LIGHT HOUSEWORK, BABY CARE BASICS, LIGHT MEAL PREP,AND POSTPARTUM SELF-CARE.
PEER DOULAS SUPPORT THEIR PREGNANT PEERS WHO ARE INCARCERATED DURING THE DIFFICULT PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM EXPERIENCE IN PRISON TO REDUCE FEELINGS OF ISOLATION AND TO INCREASE A SENSE OF AGENCY DURING SUCH A VULNERABLE, YET POWERFUL STAGE IN THEIR LIVES. ADDITIONALLY, THIS PROGRAM SERVES AS POTENTIAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AS PEER DOULAS ARE RECEIVING MARKETABLE SKILLS THAT THEY CAN RELY ON UPON RELEASE.
