TFF - PROVIDE GARDEN PLOTS FOR 40 COMMUNITY MEMBERS. GROW VEGETABLES AND FRUITS FOR A WEEKLY AVERAGE OF 50 FAMILIES INCLUDING THOSE RECEIVING OUR PRODUCE AT FOOD PANTRIES OR SOUP KITCHENS.
DELUCA FOUNDATION/CFB - THE TARGET POPULATION IS YOUTH, AGES 14-18, WHO RESIDE IN POMPANO BEACH AND DEERFIELD BEACH, WHICH HAVE HIGH RATES OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND FORECLOSED HOMES, LOW HOMEOWNERSHIP, HOMELESSNESS AND HIGH DRUG USE AND CRIME. THESE FACTORS TRANSLATE INTO EXTREMELY LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEEN EMPLOYMENT AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF JOB SKILLS AND INCREASED RISK FOR YOUTH. GROW CITY YOUTH INCREASES EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDES THE CHANCE FOR LOCAL YOUTH TO DEVELOP JOB SKILLS. UP TO 60 STUDENTS AGES 14 TO 18 YEARS WILL PARTICIPATE IN A PAID INTERNSHIP AT THE ORGANIC URBAN FARM AND LEARN LIFE AND SOFT SKILLS TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE JOB MARKET THROUGH AN ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECT. DIGITAL SKILLS SUCH AS MICROSOFT SUITE, AND GOOGLE APPLICATIONS WILL BE TAUGHT AS THE STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO MANAGE A BUSINESS, CONDUCT ONLINE MEETINGS, AND LEARN AND PRESENT PRODUCTS, AS OUTLINED IN THE PROPOSAL. YOUTH WORK GOAL: TO SHAPE TOMORROW'S WORKFORCE TODAY AND HELP YOUNG PEOPLE GAIN SKILLS THROUGH HANDS-ON EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR FUTURE CAREER SUCCESS.
CRA - THE FRUITFULFIELD PROVIDES COMMUNITY PLOTS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH THE SHARED HERB AND FLOWER PLOTS AND FRUIT TREES. URBAN FARM ROWS ARE FOCUSED ON PRODUCING SEASONAL VEGETABLES FOR DISTRIBUTION. SOCIAL COMMUNITY EVENTS FOCUS ON EDUCATION AT BOTH SITES IN HOW TO GARDEN, HOW TO PLANT TREES, AND GENERAL HEALTH THROUGH EATING AND COOKING OF FRESH PRODUCE.
JCFF - THE CONSTRUCTION AND REDEVELOPMENT OF OUR AQUAPONIC SYSTEM AND OUR NEW HYDROPONIC SYSTEM. THE HYDROPONIC SYSTEM SIZE WOULD BE INCREASED TO 12' BY 30' ENABLING A HIGHER NUMBER OF PRODUCTION.
