FIT4KIDS PRIMARY DIRECT PROGRAMS ARE WELLNESS INTEGRATION, LEARNING GARDENS, GAME ON, GIRL!, AND SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS (SRTS), AND INFLUENCING POLICY THROUGH OUR COALITION. FIT4KIDS WELLNESS INTEGRATION PROGRAM INFUSES SCHOOLS WITH A CULTURE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND NUTRITION AND SERVED ROUGHLY 2,559 STUDENTS IN TWO SCHOOL DIVISIONS DURING FY22. 25 TEACHERS COMPLETED AN ONLINE AT-YOUR-OWN-PACE CURRICULUM TO LEARN HOW TO USE KINESTHETIC TEACHING STRATEGIES IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. TEACHERS EARNED CERTIFICATION POINTS TOWARD THEIR TEACHER LICENSURE. FIT4KIDS LEARNING GARDENS ENGAGE CHILDREN IN PLANTING, GROWING, HARVESTING, AND BEST OF ALL, TASTING FRESH, FLAVORFUL FOOD.CHANGING THE WAY CHILDREN FEEL ABOUT VEGETABLES. DURING FY22, MORE THAN 4,700 STUDENTS BENEFITED FROM FIT4KIDS GARDEN LESSONS. GAME ON, GIRL! EMPOWERS MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TO BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE, NUTRITIONALLY FIT, AND LEADERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM REACHED 150 GIRLS. THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAM WORKS TO PROMOTE SAFE WALKING AND BIKING TO SCHOOL. THE SRTS PROGRAM HOSTED BIKE TO SCHOOL EVENTS AT 9 PARTNER RPS SCHOOLS. MORE THAN 100 CROSSING GUARDS WERE TRAINED AND IN PLACE AT PARTNER RICHMOND SCHOOLS, AN INCREASE FROM 7 GUARDS IN THREE YEARS. FIT4KIDS ALSO CONVENES THE GREATER RICHMOND COALITION FOR HEALTHY CHILDREN, A REGIONAL COALITION WORKING TO ADVANCE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES TO IMPROVE CHILDREN'S WELLNESS. DURING FY22, THE POLICY PRIORITIES INCLUDED LEVERAGING SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY BOARDS TO PROMOTE WELLNESS, MAKING THE MOST OF RECESS, AND PROMOTING HEALTHY HYDRATION IN RICHMOND.
