Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE ORGANIZATION IS A PARTNERSHIP OF PUBLIC POLICY, ADVOCACY AND GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING NONPROFITS DEDICATED TO ACHIEVING A BETTER, FAIRER, HEALTHIER NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
BLUEPRINT NC ORIGINALLY LAUNCHED OUR POWER, PROTECTION & ENCOURAGEMENT (PP&E) PROGRAM IN 2020 TO LAYER IN COMMUNITY SAFETY AND SECURITY INTO POLL-MONITORING PROGRAMS. WE CONTINUED AND EXPANDED THIS PROGRAM IN 2022 TO ELEVATE SAFETY AT THE BALLOT BOX AS A PRIORITY AMONG OUR TABLE PARTNERS.
BLUEPRINT NORTH CAROLINA PLAYS AN IMPORTANT PART AS A CONVENER OF ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR STATE. BLUEPRINT NC PARTNERS REPRESENT A DIVERSE PORTFOLIO OF ORGANIZATIONS, NOT ONLY IN TERMS OF THEIR ADVOCACY, BUT ALSO WITH REGARDS TO SIZE AND SCOPE. MANY GROUPS FIND THEMSELVES AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF THEIR ORGANIZATIONAL LIFE-CYCLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO OTHERS. SOME PARTNERS WE WORK WITH ARE FORMALLY INCORPORATED 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS, WHILE OTHERS RELY UPON BLUEPRINT FOR FISCAL SPONSORSHIP. SOME HAVE ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGETS IN THE FIVE-DIGIT RANGE, WHILE OTHERS MAY EXCEED $1 MILLION OR MORE.
IN 2022, BLUEPRINT NORTH CAROLINA PARTNERED WITH ORGANIZATIONS FROM ACROSS THE STATE TO REACH A RECORD NUMBER OF VOTERS AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO VOTE IN THE 2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS ON A NON-PARTISAN BASIS. THOSE EFFORTS INCLUDED A VOTER GUIDES AND FACILITATING DIRECT VOTER CONTACT.
THROUGHOUT 2021, WE WORKED TO PINPOINT THE HOME-GROWN NORTH CAROLINA ROOTS OF THE VIOLENCE AT THE CAPITOL DURING THE JANUARY 6, 2021 INSURRECTION. WE UNDERLINED THEIR CONNECTIONS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT, FAR-RIGHT ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND KNOWN BAD ACTORS (OF THE ANTI-ABORTION, ANTI-SEMITIC AND NEO-CONFEDERATE INTERSECTIONS). OUR AD HOC WORKING GROUP TRACKING FAR-RIGHT DANGER TO POLLING PLACES, POLL WORKERS, AND BLACK AND BROWN COMMUNITIES BECAME THE LAUNCHING PAD FOR A NEW PROGRAM TO TRACK DANGEROUS EXTREMISTS. THE RESULTING NORTH CAROLINA ANTI-RACIST RESEARCH COLLABORATIVE WILL INCREASE OUR NETWORK'S CAPACITY FOR COMMUNITY-BASED SAFETY SOLUTIONS AND PRO-DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGNS AND ACTIONS.
