THE FRIENDS ASSIST THE FRANCISCAN DAUGHTERS OF MARY BY RAISING FUNDS FOR THE GENERAL OPERATIONS OF THE MISSION AND ITS SERVICES, INCLUDING THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE PROPERTY THAT HOUSES THE ROSE GARDEN AND CENTER FOR HOPE AND HEALING. LIKE THE SISTERS, THE FRIENDS ARE DEDICATED TO THE RIGHT TO LIFE FROM CONCEPTION TO NATURAL DEATH FOR ALL PEOPLE AND TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE LESS FORTUNATE IN THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND GREATER CINCINNATI AREAS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2021, "FRIENDS" CONTINUED TO SUPPLY THE ROSE GARDEN MISSION, A MINISTRY OF THE FRANCISCAN DAUGHTERS OF MARY (THE SISTERS), WITH A VENUE FOR THEIR CHARITABLE WORKS, PROVIDING FOR THE UPKEEP, REPAIRS, UTILITIES, DELIVERY TRUCKS AND OTHER VARIOUS NEEDS. THIS FREED THE SISTERS UP TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF PREGNANT WOMEN, NUTRITIONALLY NEEDY, UNINSURED ILL, NEEDY FAMILIES, HOMELESS, HANDICAPPED AND ELDERLY.
IN 2021 THE FRIENDS BOUGHT AND REMODELED A BUILDING IN COVINGTON TO BE USED USE BY THE SISTERS AS A HOUSE OF FORMATION, A CONVENT WHEREIN THEY COULD FORM NEW CANDIDATES AS SISTERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY. THIS WILL ASSIST THE SISTERS IN GROWING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THEIR COMMUNITY, WHICH WILL ALSO PROVIDE THE ROSE GARDEN WITH ADDITIONAL SKILLED WORKERS.
THE FRIENDS PAID FOR TURKEYS AND CHRISTMAS TOYS, PROVIDING THE MISSION WITH ITEMS FOR THEIR THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS GIVE-AWAYS FOR NEEDY FAMILIES. THE MISSION GAVE OUT 400 TURKEYS FOR THANKSGIVING AND 833 CHILDREN RECEIVED CHRISTMAS GIFTS IN 2021.
THE FRIENDS SUPPLIED THE PREGNANCY CARE SERVICES WITH DIAPERS AND BABY WIPES THAT HELPED TO SERVE 1,487 FROM 612 FAMILIES IN 2021.
