MCKEMIE PLACE, INC. IS THE ONLY EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT SHELTER FOR HOMELESS WOMEN IN MOBILE COUNTY. THE SHELTER HAS THE ABILITY TO SERVE 65 WOMEN PER NIGHT. THE SHELTER IS OPEN 365 DAYS A YEAR.

MCKEMIE PLACE, INC. NOT ONLY PROVIDES A SAFE HAVEN FOR HOMELESS WOMEN, BUT IT IS AN IMPORTANT LINK IN HELPING WOMEN TRANSITION INTO PERMANENT HOUSING. SINCE THEY HAVE A SAFE PLACE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT, MANY WOMEN ARE ABLE TO OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT AND SAVE MONEY TO MOVE INTO THEIR OWN APARTMENTS. OTHERS ARE ABLE TO RESOLVE WHATEVER ISSUES THEY HAVE TO MOVE INTO THEIR OWN HOUSING.
