IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATES AND COLLEGE WORK PREPAREDNESS, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES VARIOUS SUPPORT SERVICES AS FOLLOWS:SCHOOL IS COOL BENEFITS AT LEAST 2,300 STUDENTSTHIS BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT OFFERS SMITH COUNTY FAMILIES AN OPPORTUNITY TO PREPARE FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR. PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADE STUDENTS THAT ATTEND THE EVENT ARE GIVEN A BACKPACK WITH SUPPLIES.SMITH COUNTY COLLEGE FAIR BENEFITS AT LEAST 700 STUDENTSSMITH COUNTY STUDENTS AND PARENTS ARE ABLE TO VISIT WITH MORE THAN 60 COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY RECRUITERS FROM ACROSS THE NATION. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEIR ACADEMIC OPTIONS. THE RECRUITERS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE WILL BE ESSENTIAL TO ASSISTING STUDENTS AND PARENTS THROUGH THE COLLEGE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS.TYLER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CAREER CONNECTIONS BENEFITS AT LEAST 230 STUDENTSSTUDENTS FROM SMITH COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THIS ONE-DAY PROGRAM, WHICH IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO BEGIN CAREER EXPLORATION DURING THEIR FINAL HIGH SCHOOL YEARS BY CONNECTING THEM WITH OVER 60 LOCAL BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS.
