TO PROVIDE QUALITY DENTAL SERVICES, AT NO COST, TO INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES WHO CANNOT AFFORD AND ACCESS DENTAL CARE; ELIMINATING DENTAL PAIN, PROMOTING ORAL HEALTH, CREATING SMILES, AND PROVIDING ORAL HEALTH EDUCATION.

THE COLORADO MISSION OF MERCY (COMOM) IS A LARGE-SCALE, PORTABLE DENTAL CLINIC THAT IS USUALLY HELD ANNUALLY IN A COLORADO COMMUNITY IN WHICH LARGE NUMBERS OF INDIVIDUALS ARE IN ORAL HEALTH NEED. DURING FY 2020-21 AND AS REFLECTED IN THIS FORM 990, THE CLINIC WAS UNABLE TO BE HELD DUE TO COVID. DURING NON-COVID YEARS, COMOM HOLDS A TWO-DAY EVENT TRANSFORMING A FACILITY INTO A 125-CHAIR CLINIC. ON AVERAGE, 1,300 PATIENTS ARE SERVED. PATIENTS INITIALLY UNDERGO A HEALTH AND DENTAL EVALUATION, AND THEN PATIENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH CLEANINGS, FILLINGS, ROOT CANALS, AND EXTRACTIONS. COMOM DENTISTS AND DENTAL LAB TECHS ALSO PREPARE CERAMIC CROWNS, DENTURES, AND FLIPPERS. TO FACILITATE SUSTAINED ORAL HEALTH, PATIENTS ARE GIVEN HOME-CARE INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO CARE FOR THEIR TEETH AND THE IMPORTANCE OF BALANCED NUTRITION AND PREVENTATIVE CARE. AN OUTPOURING OF NEARLY 200 VOLUNTEER DENTISTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE - ALONG WITH HUNDREDS OF DENTAL HYGIENISTS, ASSISTANTS, LAB TECHNICIANS, AND A MYRIAD OF LAY VOLUNTEERS AND OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS - WORK IN TANDEM WITH COMMUNITY GROUPS AND AGENCIES TO BETTER THE ORAL HEALTH OF INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE IN NEED. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, COMOM HAS SERVED 17,500 PATIENTS AND PROVIDED $15,000,000 IN DONATED DENTAL CARE.
