ALLEVIATE HUNGER BY SUPPORTING FEEDING AMERICA FOOD BANKS IN IOWA.

SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP). SNAP OUTREACH AND HOTLINE TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS, BUT DUE TO LACK OF ACCESS AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROGRAM MANY INDIVIDUALS DO NOT APPLLY TO RECEIVE BENEFITS. DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTED WITH 12,352 SNAP APPLICATIONS THROUGH THE IFBA HOTLINE AND OUTREACH SPECIALISTS ACROSS THE STATE. THIS EXCEEDED THE IFBA GOAL OF 10,200 APPLICATIONS FOR FY 2023. THIS AN AVERAGE OF 1,029 APPLICATIONS PER MONTH IN FY 2023. IFBA ADVOCATED TO ENSURE SNAP ACCESS IS AVAILABLE FOR IOWANS IN NEED OF ASSISTNACE. IFBA SNAP ADVOCACY WORK INCLUDED EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF CHALLENGES OF PROPOSED LEGISLATION IN REGARDS TO SNAP ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS. IFBA BEGAN WORKING WITH ALL MEMBER FOOD BANKS AS WELL AS IVRCD AND IDALS TO ENSURE THE USDA GRANT IN IOWA, LOCAL FOOD PRODUCT PROGRAM LAUNCHED EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY.
