OUR PARTNER IN BANGLADESH CONSTRUCTED AND INSTALLED APPROXIMATELY 400 BIOSAND FILTERS IN PEOPLE'S HOMES, GIVING 2,000 PEOPLE CLEAN WATER FOR LIFE IN SOUTHWESTERN BANGLADESH. OUR FACTORY WHERE THE BIOSAND FILTERS ARE PRODUCED IS ALSO A SOURCE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE COMMUNITY PROVIDING A SOURCE OF JOBS AND INCOME IN A RURAL COMMUNITY WHERE FORMAL LABOR OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMITED.
PROJECT SHINE BRIGHT WAS A HURRICANE RELIEF INITIATIVE IN PUERTO RICO THAT WAS STARTED SHORTLY AFTER HURRICANE MARIA IN 2017. THE GOAL WAS TO GIVE PEOPLE LIVING IN RURAL MUNICIPALITIES ACCESS TO SOLUTIONS, SUCH AS WATER FILTERS AND SOLAR LANTERNS, THAT WOULD HELP THEM BRIDGE GHE GAP UNTIL UTILITY SERVICES WERE RESTORED AND OVERALL INFRASTRUCTURE WAS REPAIRED. IN 2018, EVEN MONTHS AFTER THE STORM MANY RURAL MUNICIPALITIES WERE STILL WITHOUT BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE. OUR WORK IN 2018 INCLUDED: HOME SOLAR LIGHTING AND CHARGING SYSTEMS FOR 6,400 RESIDENTS, WATER FILTERS FOR 20,000 RESIDENTS, INFLATABLE SOLAR LIGHS FOR 1,000 RESIDENTS, 25 PORTABLE GENERATORS FOR BEDRIDDEN PATIENTS, 1 SOLAR REFRIGERATIR FIR STORAGE OF MEDICINES AND PERISHABLES.
