THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO SUPPORT AND BENEFIT EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION AND TO FURTHER THE ASSOCIATION'S EDUCATIONAL, CHARITABLE AND RELIGIOUS MISSION THROUGH ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE RAISING FUNDS, MAINTAINING OR SUPPORTING AN ENDOWMENT AND GRANTING FUNDS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
AN UPSCALE-RESALE STORE, DITTO, WAS LAUNCHED IN SEPTEMBER 2010. SALES FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION ENABLED THE STORE TO DONATE $75,000 IN PROFITS TO EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, MAKE FINANCIAL DONATIONS TO 6 COMMUNITY CAUSES AND DONATE CLOTHING AND OTHER NECESSITIES TO RESIDENTS OF PATERSON DURING THE DEVASTATING FLOODS CAUSED BY HURRICANE IRENE. DITTO HAS AN ALL VOLUNTEER STAFF EXCEPT FOR ONE FULL TIME EMPLOYEE AND 13 PART TIME EMPLOYEES. THE MISSION OF DITTO IS NOT JUST FUNDRAISING, IT IS TO PROVIDE A SERVICE TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, A PLACE FOR LOWER INCOME FAMILIES TO SHOP. MANY DONATED ITEMS GIVEN TO OTHER CHARITIES.
SUPPORT OF EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONTHE OBJECTIVE IS TO SUPPORT AND BENEFIT THE EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION AND TO FURTHER THE CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL AND RELIGIOUS MISSION THROUGH ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, CONDUCTING FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES, MAINTAINING OR SUPPORTING AN ENDOWMENT AND GRANTING FUNDS.
TUITION REDUCTION INCENTIVE PROGRAM (TRIP)THE TRIP PROMOTES FUNDING THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS AT EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. IT IS A WAY FOR PARENTS TO REDUCE THEIR EASTERN CHRISTIAN TUITION BILL MAKING AN EASTERN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MORE AFFORDABLE. THE TRIP PURCHASES LARGE QUANTITIES OF GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF STORES AT A DISCOUNT AND RESELLS THE GIFT CERTIFICATES TO PARENTS AND OTHERS AT FACE VALUE. A PORTION OF THE DISCOUNT INCOME RETAINED BY THE FOUNDATION AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION DIRECTLY REDUCES THE TUITION BILLS OF FAMILIES DESIGNATED BY THE GIFT CERTIFICATE PURCHASER. THE REMAINDER OF THE DISCOUNT INCOME RETAINED BY THE FOUNDATION AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE EASTERN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ASSOCIATION IS USED TO PAY OTHER OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE SCHOOL THUS REDUCING TUITION FOR ALL WHO ATTEND EASTERN CHRISTIAN.
THE FOUNDATION PUBLISHES "THE HERALD" MAGAZINE TWICE A YEAR, "THE EC TIMES" 8 TIMES A YEAR, AND THE ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP REPORT. WRITING ARTICLES FOR THE MAGAZINE AND NEWSPAPER PROVIDES REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE FOR ECSA JOURNALISM STUDENTS. THE MAGAZINE AND NEWSPAPER ALSO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL AND THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES TO PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF STUDENTS.
