MEDICAL DEBT IS INCREASINGLY CITED AS A CAUSE OF BANKRUPTCY AND AS HIGH RATES OF UNEMPLOYMENT CONTINUE, MEDICAL DEBT IS LIKELY TO GROW. MANY STRUGGLING LOW-INCOME PATIENTS AND FAMILIES CANNOT AFFORD THE COST OF THEIR CO-PAYMENTS, DEDUCTIBLES, AND OTHER ESSENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES THAT ENSURE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME BEFORE OR AFTER A CANCER DIAGNOSIS. IN RESPONSE TO THIS OVERWHELMING NEED, PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS ("PAP") ARE OFTEN ESTABLISHED AND ADMINISTERED BY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES BEGAN ESTABLISHING PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM MANY YEARS AGO, BUT PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS FOR THE OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES, LIKE MEALS, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES, ARE HARD TO FIND. THE CANCER RESOURCE FOUNDATION, INC. IS COMMITTED TO ASSISTING PATIENTS, FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS TO FIND THE CRITICAL SUPPORT SERVICES THEY NEED.
