SOUTH BRONX UNITED USES SOCCER AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL CHANGE. SOUTH BRONX UNITED AIMS TO HELP YOUTH BUILD CHARACTER, TEAMWORK, AND LEADERSHIP SO THAT THEY CAN SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE, CAREERS, THEIR COMMUNITY AND BEYOND. SOUTH BRONX UNITED STRIVES TO PROMOTE EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ACTIVITIES ON AND OFF THE SOCCER FIELD AND TO UNITE A DIVERSE GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS AND AN INCREDIBLY DIVERSE COMMUNITY TOWARD COMMON POSITIVE GOALS

THE SBU ACADEMY: INCLUDES AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING AND HOMEWORK HELP, COLLEGE PREP, MATH AND ENGLISH CLASSES, SAT PREP, COLLEGE PREP MENTORING AND COLLEGE PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, COLLEGE VISITS, AND A SUMMER SOCCER SCHOLARS PROGRAM TO PROVIDE A FULL-DAY PROGRAM OVER 5 WEEKS INCLUDE ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, LIFE SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL TRIPS, AND ATHLETIC TRAINING.


THE RECREATIONAL PROGRAM SERVES MORE THAN 800 BOYS AND GIRLS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 4-16. THE RECREATIONAL LEAGUE IS OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN REGARDLESS OF ABILITY. CHILDREN PLAY A FALL AND A SPRING SEASON ON SATURDAYS AT MACOMBS DAM FIELD (1 E 161ST STREET) AND AT MULLALY PARK (165TH STREET AND JEROME AVENUE). THE PROGRAM PROMOTES HEALTH AND WELLNESS THROUGH GOOD NUTRITION AND ACTIVE LIFESTYLES TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD OBESITY. CHILDREN STAY ACTIVE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.


GLOBAL YOUTH LEAGUE - THE GLOBAL YOUTH LEAGUE IS OPEN TO YOUTH, AGES 15-19, WHO ARE INTERESTED IN COMPETING ON THE SOCCER FIELD IN SEPARATE BOYS OR GIRLS DIVISIONS. 11TH/12TH GRADE PARTICIPANTS CAN ALSO ATTEND TWICE WEEKLY COLLEGE ACCESS PROGRAMMING AND 10TH GRADERS CAN ATTEND MONTHLY COLLEGE ACCESS WORKSHOPS.
