U.S. PROGRAM:NOW IN ITS 12TH YEAR, CLEANTECH OPEN IS THE OLDEST AND LARGEST CLEANTECH STARTUP ACCELERATOR PROGRAM IN THE UNITED STATES, SUPPORTING UP TO 150 EARLY-STAGE STARTUPS EVERY YEAR. CLEANTECH OPEN IS A NON-PROFIT, MISSION-DRIVEN ORGANIZATION POWERED BY THE EFFORTS OF OVER 1,000 PRO BONO PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. WE WORK TO FIND, FUND, AND FOSTER ENTREPRENEURS WITH IDEAS TO SOLVE THE WORLD'S GREATEST ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY CHALLENGES. SINCE OUR INCEPTION IN 2005, CLEANTECH OPEN HAS HELPED OVER 1,200 CLEANTECH IN THE STARTUPS IN THE U.S. CONNECT TO THE PEOPLE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESSES. THE RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES: OVER 70% OF CLEANTECH OPEN COMPANIES ARE STILL IN OPERATION, AND CLEANTECH OPEN GRADUATES MORE THAN $1.2B IN COMBINED FUNDING TO DATE.
GLOBAL PROGRAM:IN 2013, CLEANTECH OPEN BEGAN ITS INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION IN COLLABORATION WITH THE KAUFMANN FOUNDATION, WHICH FUNDED CLEANTECH OPEN'S GLOBAL IDEAS COMPETITION (A CLEANTECH OPEN LITE PROGRAM). SINCE THEN, THE GLOBAL IDEAS COMPETITION HAS EXPANDED INTO OVER 30 COUNTIES. THE SUCCESS REALIZED THERE PAVED THE WAY FOR A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CLEANTECH OPEN AND BOTH THE UNITED NATIONS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (UNIDO) AND THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY (GEF) AIMED AT DEPLOYING THE FULL U.S. PROGRAM IN 8 EMERGING ECONOMIES: SOUTH AFRICA, TURKEY, PAKISTAN, INDIA, MALAYSIA, THAILAND, AND MOROCCO AND ARMENIA, IN 2016. TODAY, CLEANTECH OPEN WORKS WITH IN-COUNTRY TEAMS TO DEPLOY ITS FULL CLEANTECH ACCELERATION PROGRAM, AND IT IS WORKING TO EXPAND ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIDO AND GEF TO REACH TO 20 EMERGING COUNTRIES BY 2020.
