THE EMERGENCY SHELTER PROVIDES SHELTER, CASE MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCES TO SINGLE ADULTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA. DURING 2022, THE SHELTER PROVIDED 17,704 BEDS TO 459 UNDUPLICATED MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. CASE MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCES WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO HELP SECURE EMPLOYMENT, AND MEET BASIC DAILY ESSENTIAL NEEDS SUCH AS KITCHEN, SHOWER, LAUNDRY, MAIL, LOCKER, WELLNESS ROOM AND POINT OF CONTACT ARE PROVIDED. DURING 2022, PROVIDED 5,101 SHOWERS AND 1,727 LOADS OF LAUNDRY. CASE MANAGERS WORK WITH CLIENTS TO ESTABLISH HOUSING PLANS AND GOALS FOR OVERCOMING UNIQUE BARRIERS TO HOMELESSNESS. THEY PROVIDE REFERRALS AND HELP WITH APPLICATIONS FOR HOUSING, EMPLOYEMENT, DISABILITY, ETC.
COORDINATED ENTRY ENSURES THAT ALL PEOPLE EXPERIENCING A HOUSING CRISIS HAVE FAIR AND EQUAL ACCESS AND ARE QUICKLY IDENTIFIED, ASSESSED, AND CONNECTED TO HOUSING AND HOMELESS ASSISTANCE BASED ON THEIR VULNERABILITY. AS CUMBERLAND COUNTY'S LEAD PHYSICAL ACCESS SITE FOR COORDINATED ENTRY, COMMUNITY CARES HAS STAFF WHO ARE TRAINED AT PERFORMING COORDINATED ENTRY AND COMPLETED 389 ASSESSMENTS IN 2022. HOMELESS PREVENTION AIMS TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCE HOMELESSNESS THROUGH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND CASE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT THAT HELPS KEEP PEOPLE HOUSED. DIVERSION IS A FLEXIBLE SHORT-TERM INTERVENTION THAT ASSISTS HOUSEHOLDS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS WITH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO OVERCOME THEIR HOUSING CRISIS AND WHENEVER POSSIBLE, AVOID ENTERING EMERGENCY SHELTER.
CUMBERLAND STREET REACH (STREET OUTREACH) IS A MOBILE OUTREACH PROGRAM DESIGNED TO ENGAGE, ASSESS AND COMBAT HOMELESSNESS FOR HOUSEHOLDS WHO ARE AT RISK OF LOSING THEIR HOME AND THOSE LIVING ON THE STREETS, IN ENCAMPMENTS AND IN LOCATIONS NOT INTENDED FOR HUMAN HABITATION THROUGHOUT CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA. DURING 2022, ENROLLED 634 INDIVIDUALS IN THE STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM AND HAD 5,962 ENGAGEMENTS WITH HOMELESS OR HOUSING AT-RISK PEOPLE.
THE FAMILY SHELTER PROVIDES SHELTER, CASE MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCES TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PA. DURING 2022, THE SHELTER PROVIDED 9,235 BEDS TO 222 UNDUPLICATED MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. CASE MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCES WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO HELP SECURE EMPLOYMENT, AND MEET BASIC DAILY NEEDS. ESSENTIAL NEEDS SUCH AS SHOWER, LAUNDRY, MAIL, COMPUTERS, KITCHEN AND POINT OF CONTACT WERE PROVIDED. DURING 2022, PROVIDED 4,461 SHOWERS AND 3,157 LOADS OF LAUNDRY. CASE MANAGERS WORK WITH CLIENTS TO ESTABLISH HOUSING PLANS AND GOALS FOR OVERCOMING UNIQUE BARRIERS TO HOMELESSNESS. THEY PROVIDE REFERRALS AND HELP WITH APPLICATIONS FOR HOUSING, EMPLOYEMENT, DISABILITY, ETC.
