2021 HAS BEEN A REBUILDING YEAR FOR VOLUNTEER SERVICES AND THE STAFFORD GIFT SHOP.IN JANUARY 2021, MARY WASHINGTON HEALTHCARE OPENED A COVID-19 COMMUNITY VACCINE CLINIC. VOLUNTEERS FROM STAFFORD AND MARY WASHINGTON HOSPITALS WERE THE FOUNDATION OF VOLUNTEERS AT THE CLINIC. THEY WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN GETTING THE CLINIC UP AND RUNNING AND CONTINUED TO VOLUNTEER THROUGH THE SPRING. THE MWHC COVID-19 VACCINATION CLINIC GAVE OVER 200,000 VACCINATIONS OVER THE COURSE OF 10 MONTHS.SINCE THAT TIME, VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING IN FOUR SPECIFIC AREAS AT STAFFORD HOSPITAL: WELCOME DESK, PATIENT ACCESS, SAME DAY SURGERY, AND THE GIFT SHOP. IN 2021, WE HAD APPROXIMATELY FORTY-SEVEN VOLUNTEERS WHO VOLUNTEERED 8,610 HOURS.2021 HIGHLIGHTS:TOTE BAGS GIVEN TO DEPARTING SAME DAY SURGERY PATIENTS - 1,000HANDMADE COUGH PILLOWS GIVEN TO POST-SURGICAL PATIENTS - 242STUFFED BEARS GIVEN TO DEPARTING NEW PARENTS - 1236STUFFED ANIMALS GIVEN TO SAME DAY SURGERY PEDIATRIC PATIENTS - 209INFUSION BLANKETS GIVEN TO INFUSION OUT-PATIENTS - 13STARS OF LOVE DONATION TO THE MWHC HOSPICE PROGRAM - $5,000
