HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE: THE PRIMARY SERVICE PROVIDED BY INTERBORO RHIO TO OUR PARTICIPANTS IS THE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF A HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE (HIE). THE HIE ENABLES HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO ELECTRONICALLY ACCESS AND USE CLINICAL INFORMATION, COMPILED FROM VARIOUS SOURCES, ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS' HEALTH AS THEY MAKE TREATMENT DECISIONS.INTER-OPERABLE HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: RECOGNIZING THAT THE BENEFITS OF ELECTRONIC HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE WILL NOT BE REALIZED UNLESS A CRITICAL MASS OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS PARTICIPATE, INTERBORO RHIO IS WORKING WITH THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE NEW YORK EHEALTH COLLABORATIVE (NYEC) TO FACILITATE HIE ON A BROADER SCALE ACROSS OUR COMMUNITY.
