TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ASSISTANCE DOGS TO BE TRAINED BY CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS FOR VETERANS WHO HAVE SERVED HONORABLY AND ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL INJURED DURING SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

GUIDE DOGS TRAINED TO FIND AND FOLLOW A CLEAR PATH, MANEUVER AROUND OBSTACLES AND STOP AT CURBS. SERVICE DOGS SPECIFICALLY TRAINED TO HELP PEOPLE WHO HAVE DISABILITIES OTHER THAN VISUAL IMPAIRMENT. SOME OF THE TASKS THE SERVICE DOGS PROVIDE ARE ASSISTANCE WITH BALANCE AND STABILITY; RETREIVING DROPPED ITEMS TO PREVENT FALLS OR CARRYING ITEMS IN A BACKPACK. THE ASSISTANCE DOGS ALSO OFFER EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN WHO DEAL WITH COMBAT STRESS, HOME FRONT ISSUES AND SLEEP DISORDERS. ALL ASSISTANCE DOGS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE TO THE VETERANS. ALL PROVIDERS FUNDED BY VETS HELPING HEROES UNDERGO RIGOROUS EVALUATION AND ARE APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS. VETS HELPING HEROES ADHERES TO A STRICT CODE OF CONDUCT.
