THE PS10 PTA IS A MOTIVATED, DIVERSE, AND ACCOMPLISHED PARENT BODY DEDICATED TO AND FOCUSED ON HELPING PS10 MAINTAIN AN INCLUSIVE AND SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL COMMUNITY. OUR PRIME DIRECTIVE IS ENHANCING OUR CHILDRENS EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.OUR 3 LARGEST SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN FY 2020-2021 ARE OUR COVID RESPONSE, PROVISION OF SCIENCE AND ART KITS THAT ALLOWED STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE PROJECT-BASED LEARNING VIA ZOOM AT HOME, AND EVENTS THAT SAFELY BROUGHT OUR COMMUNITY TOGETHER DURING CHALLENGING TIMES. OUR COVID RESPONSE INCLUDED THE PROCUREMENT OF HIGH-QUALITY AIR FILTRATION DEVICES FOR EVERY CLASSROOM PURCHASED AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF AN HVAC ENGINEER WHO SPECIALIZED IN AIR QUALITY CONTROL, PURCHASING OF CHILD-SIZED PICNIC TABLES WITH SUN UMBRELLAS FOR OUTDOOR DINING, AND PURCHASING OF PPE INCLUDING MASKS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THE SCIENCE AND ART KITS SUPPORTED MONTHS OF EXPERIMENT- AND PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AT A TIME WHEN HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES WERE VERY CHALLENGING AS MANY STUDENTS WERE LEARNING FROM HOME AND ALL CLUSTER CLASSES WERE ON REMOTE DAYS. OUR COMMUNITY EVENTS ALL TOOK PLACE OUTSIDE, AND HAD ACTIVITIES THAT COULD BE DONE IN A PHYSICALLY DISTANCED WAY WHILE STILL ALLOWING THE COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER AND CELEBRATE AND BE WITH EACH OTHER.
