HEALTH CAREER CONNECTION (HCC) IS A NATIONAL NON-PROFIT THAT INSPIRES AND EMPOWERS UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS,RECENT GRADUATES AND HCC ALUMNI, PARTICULARLY THOSE FROM UNDER-REPRESENTED OR DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUNDS, TO CHOOSE AND SUCCESSFULLY PURSUE AUTHENTIC HEALTHCARE AND PUBLIC HEALTH CAREERS.WE ACHIEVE THIS BY CONNECTING TALENTED AND DIVERSE FUTURE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND LEADERS TO REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE, EXPOSURE, MENTORING AND NETWORKING.HCC CONNECTS ORGANIZATIONS IN ALL HEALTH SECTORS WITH TALENTED AND DIVERSE FUTURE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND LEADERS. INTERNS SUPPORT PRIORITY PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS THAT OPTIMIZE ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE, FOSTER INNOVATION, AND DRIVE GROWTH. HEALTH CAREER CONNECTION, INC WAS ORGANIZED TO EXPAND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR UNDER-REPRESENTED GROUPS TO ENTER THE HEALTH CARE FIELD. IT MENTORED AND PLACED 328 UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN PAID INTERNSHIPS AT HOSPITALS AND OTHER MEDICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS. STUDENTS RECEIVING INTERNSHIPS WERE MOSTLY FROM LOW INCOME AND MINORITY BACKGROUNDS. STUDENTS ATTENDING UNIVERSITIES SUCH AS UC BERKELEY, UCLA,COLUMBIA, STANFORD AND USC PARTICIPATED IN PROGRAM FACILITIES IN BOSTON, LOS ANGELES, SAN DIEGO, NEW YORK AND SAN FRANCISCO. NEARLY ALL OF THE INTERNS REPORT THAT THE INTERNSHIP HAD A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON THEIR CAREER DIRECTION AND MOTIVATION. ALSO PROVIDED PAID HEALTH EQUITY SCHOLARS VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING TO 67 COLLEGE STUDENTS AND PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING TO HCC ALUMNI.
