FRIENDS LIKE ME- BREAST CANCER SUPPORT AND OUTREACH PROGRAM INCLUDING CARE PACKAGES FOR NEWLY DIAGNOSED WOMEN, EDUCATIONAL PUBLICATIONS, INFORMATIVE WEBSITE AND OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS EVENTS. MEASURABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: IN THE CURRENT YEAR, OVER 1250 CARE PACKAGES WERE SENT TO NEWLY DIAGNOSED WOMEN, 81,138 COPIES OF THE PRINT NEWSLETTER FRONTLINE WERE MAILED, OVER 750,000 PINK LINK E-NEWSLETTERS WERE E-MAILED TO CONSTITUENTS, OVER 188 GRASSROOTS PARTNER OUTREACH EVENTS WERE HELD AND OVER 235,000 PEOPLE VISITED WWW.PABREASTCANCER.ORG.
PA BREAST CANCER COALITION ANNUAL CONFERENCE - EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE OFFERING WORKSHOPS, DISCUSSION PANELS AND EXPERT SPEAKERS COVERING VARIOUS BREAST CANCER TOPICS AND ISSUES. DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, IN 2021, DUE TO THE RESTRICTIONS BROUGHT ABOUT BY COVID-19, THE PBCC'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS A VIRTUAL EVENT. OVER 1,095 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN THE CONFERENCE AND OVER 300 CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS WERE AWARDED TO NURSES. EVEN AS A VIRTUAL EVENT, THE CONFERENCE OFFERED ATTENDEES THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTS IN BREAST CANCER DETECTION, CARE AND TREATMENT. PARTICIPANTS WERE ABLE TO ATTEND A WIDE VARIETY OF WORKSHOPS TO LEARN ABOUT TOPICS IN THE AREAS OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT, HEALTH AND WELLNESS AND SURVIVORSHIP.
INCOME TAX CHECK-OFF FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH - PROMOTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE STATE INCOME TAX CHECK OFF FOR BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER RESEARCH. EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2008 THE PBCC BECAME THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE TAX CHECK OFF FUNDING AND IS NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THE PROGRAM. MEASURABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: IN THE CURRENT YEAR OVER $39,000 WAS RAISED FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH; 9 GRANT APPLICATIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM PA BASED RESEARCHERS IN RESPONSE TO THE PBCC'S CURRENT YEAR REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS; AND 4 GRANTS WERE ISSUED TO RESEARCHERS.
