THE EDC IS ORGANIZED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENCOURAGING ECONOMIC GROWTH THROUGH ASSISTANCE TO BUSINESSESTHAT WISH TO LOCATE OR REMAIN IN THE AREA IN AN EFFORT TO EXPAND THE JOB BASE AND CREATE NEW JOBS. TO THAT END, THE EDC OPERATES A REVOLVING LOAN FUND WHICH PROVIDES LOW-COST LOANS TO BUSINESSES THAT WISH TOEXPAND OR LOCATE IN THE AREA. THEY ALSO ACT AS AN EXEMPT FLOW-THROUGH ENTITY FOR THE FEDERAL, STATE, ANDLOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO USE TO FACILITATE THE DISTRIBUTION OF EXPANSION GRANT FUNDS TO AREA BUSINESSES. THESEPROGRAMS SERVE APPROXIMATELY 30,000 PEOPLE IN THE AREA.
