THE WASHINGTON HOSPITAL IS A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL DEDICATED TO IMPROVING HEALTH / PROVIDING PATIENT CARE TO ALL PERSONS WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN, DISABILITY OR ABILITY TO PAY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
INPATIENT ACUTE SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 8,529 PATIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE WASHINGTON HOSPITAL PROVIDES A WIDE ARRAY OF MEDICAL AND SURGICAL SERVICES. SURGICAL SPECIALTIES INCLUDE NEUROSURGERY, CARDIOLOGY, CARDIOTHORACIC SURGERY, ORTHOPEDICS, OBSTETRICS, GYNECOLOGY, GASTROENTEROLOGY, UROLOGY AND GENERAL SURGERY. SERVICES WERE RENDERED REGARDLESS OF A PATIENT'S ABILITY TO PAY. ALL QUALITY MEASURES REQUIRED BY MEDICARE AND MAJOR INSURANCE CARRIERS WERE MET. 19% OF THE INPATIENT CASES WERE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE (MEDICAID); 56% OF THE PATIENT CASES WERE MEDICARE.
A WIDE VARIETY OF OUTPATIENT SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY INCLUDING LAB, RADIOLOGY, SURGICAL, OBSERVATION, EMERGENCY AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES. APPROXIMATELY 264,000 OUTPATIENT VISITS WERE PERFORMED DURING THE YEAR. SERVICES WERE RENDERED REGARDLESS OF THE PATIENT'S ABILITY TO PAY. ALL QUALITY MEASURES REQUIRED BY MEDICARE AND MAJOR INSURANCE CARRIERS WERE MET. 15% OF THE OUTPATIENT VISITS WERE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE (MEDICAID); 41% OF THE OUTPATIENT VISITS WERE MEDICARE.
THE HOSPITAL SUPPORTS A 30 BED INPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH UNIT. IT IS ONE OF THE LARGEST UNITS OF ITS KIND IN THE HOSPITAL'S EXTENDED SERVICE AREA AND SERVED 1,028 PATIENTS THIS YEAR. SERVICES ARE RENDERED TO ALL PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY. THE UNIT HAS A VERY HIGH PERCENTAGE OF PATIENTS WITH MEDICAL ASSISTANCE (MEDICAID) (53%) AND 2% WHO ARE UNINSURED.
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE A MULTITUDE OF ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE HOSPITAL TO DO BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE VALUABLE COMMUNITY BENEFITS.
