BOWMANSTOWN VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IS NON-PROFIT, VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION INCORPORATED FOR THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF PROVIDING EMERGENCY FIRE FIGHTING SERVICES. IN ADDITION THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTES FIRE PREVENTION, EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS. THE PRIMARY FIRE FIGHTING SERVICE AREA IS BOWMANSTOWN, PA WITH A POPULATION OF APPROXIMATELY 1,000 IN 365 HOUSEHOLDS. THE FIRE COMPANY IS ALSO ON CALL FOR EMERGENCY FIRE FIGHTING SITUATIONS WITH THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES AS WELL. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED BY ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO VOLUNTEER FOR THE ORGANIZATION AS FIREFIGHTERS. FIRE FIGHTING SERVICES IS AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR THE POPULATION OF BOWMANSTOWN AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. IF SUCH SERVICE WERE NOT PROVIDED BY THE ORGANIZATION, THE APPLICABLE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS WOULD HAVE A LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE SUCH SERVICES. IN THIS WAY, THE ORGANIZATION WHICH IS OPERATED BY VOLUNTEERS, PROVIDES A SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS TO THE TAXPAYERS.
